FGASA Nature Enthusiast Experience

Bored with being a tourist? Looking for a way to connect with the places you visit?

A learning holiday at Campfire is the travel adventure you need. Based at Tehilla Eco Village in the Greater Kruger National Park, we reveal the beauty and intricacy of nature to our visitors, help them reconnect with the planet and open their minds to sustainable lifeways and values.

You will follow the same programme used to train nature guides and game rangers, receive the same books and manuals and have the option of obtaining a Nature Enthusiast Certificate from the Field Guides Association of South Africa (FGASA) through a written exam. Our principal trainer and Campfire owner, Laetitia Cronjé (BSc Zoology & Botany), will be your personal mentor.

You can look forward to daily bush walks, tracking and approaching wildlife on foot, game drives, wildlife tracking, sleep-outs under the stars, birding and fun activities like tree and insect identification. You’ll meet others who share your interests and make friends you’ll never forget. Mother Nature is waiting to take you on a journey – all you have to do is pitch up.

Duration (with certification): 36 days (full-time)
Duration (without certificate): 28 days (full-time)

Excursions outside the boundaries of the reserve are subject to time availability and are not included in the total cost payable for this programme.
